Job Application weirdness…

I love filling out job, applications. Submitting resumes, cover letters, & getting ghosted by employers, before finally getting the follow-up email saying that they “decided to move forward with other candidates”. Said no one on earth.

Job applications are a pain to fill out & submit. However, there are methods to make the process easier. Mainly by setting up auto-fill to enter in demographic information & contact info.

After submitting resumes & cover letters, inputting in demographic information & job status is the next step. Great!

Tedious information when your applying to positions due to an uncertain job market, mass layoffs, & companies wanting to hire top talent at a fraction of their worth. It’s definitely been a hiring manager’s market, & not a job seeker’s like it was before.

But on this occasion…

I have nothing against filling out information multiple times. Though some candidates may find it a turn off.

What’s not great, is that information being requested again.

Wouldn’t it be more logical to remove the redundant drop down menus?

Maximize convenience & eliminate pain points.

My solution?..

Eliminate the extra drop-down menus & redundant text for self-identification of demographics.

Instead of of requiring perspective job applicants to input the same information, twice.

That way the application leads straight towards the self-identification of disability.

More to come…

This case study is remaining dormant & open if the job applications keep having redundant information listed for applicants to fill out. We never know when a case study will be truly finished.
